Alito Moreno: “History will remember Morena as the party that murdered democracy”

During a stormy session of Congress, PRI leader Alejandro Moreno accused Morena of burying justice, persecuting opponents, and attempting to impose an authoritarian regime.

Mexico City — In an atmosphere charged with tension and confrontation, Alejandro “Alito” Moreno, president of the PRI, delivered a speech that shook the walls of the General Congress. Raising his voice above the insults and shouts of Morena deputies, Moreno accused the ruling party of “murdering democracy” and leading the country into authoritarianism.

“Today, Mexico is in mourning because justice has been assassinated. Morena has corrupted the judiciary and turned it into an instrument of persecution. History will remember them not as reformers, but as the party that murdered democracy,” Moreno declared, sparking outrage among ruling legislators.

Moreno focused his attack on the judiciary reform, which he labeled a “fraudulent coup” against the independence of the courts. According to him, the reform guarantees that judges, ministers, and magistrates serve Morena’s interests rather than the people’s rights. “What they have done is not reform — it is the burial of justice,” he said.

But his strongest warning looked ahead to the proposed electoral reform. Moreno insisted that the initiative is nothing less than an attempt to eliminate opposition and impose a one-party system. “Through the ballot box, Morena wants to build a dictatorship. They want to erase dissent, erase alternatives, and erase democracy itself. We will not allow it,” he emphasized.

The clash inside Congress grew intense as Morena deputies hurled insults, but Moreno remained unyielding. “We are not afraid, and I am not afraid. The PRI will resist, and we will defend democracy with every tool at our disposal,” he assured.

Analysts highlighted that Moreno’s tone reflects not only confrontation but also an effort to rally citizens against authoritarian drift. By directly accusing Morena of links to corruption and organized crime, Moreno reinforced his image as the most outspoken opposition leader willing to confront the government without hesitation.

For the public, his words served as both a warning and a call to action. “This is not just a political battle. It is a fight for the Republic, for the future of our children, and for the freedom of Mexico,” Moreno concluded.

In the coming weeks, the legislative agenda will be dominated by debates over the electoral reform. But after Moreno’s speech, one thing is clear: the fight will not only be waged in Congress, but also in the court of public opinion, where the PRI seeks to stand as the last defense of democracy.
